“Success Stories” is the theme of the 2017 Society for Features Journalism (featuresjournalism.org) annual conference, which will showcase journalism tools and advice that can help today’s journalist succeed.
Taking place Sept. 27-30 in Kansas City, Missouri, the conference’s speakers include Robb Armstrong of “Jump Start“ (an Andrews McMeel syndicate), who will talk about how he went from a college student at Syracuse University with a comic strip to becoming a nationally syndicated cartoonist; Candice Millard, a bestselling author and journalist who will share how to dive deep into stories no one else has told; and Lynden Steele, assistant managing editor for photography at The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, on life after winning the Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography for coverage of the Ferguson protests.
The conference will also feature a tract for college journalism students who want to get advice from and network with professionals.
